Why I still think human writing is more compelling than AI

I can't even open my personal emails without some glimmer of AI popping up. I can sense it right away, it seems authentic but also - not human. I've even had clients collaborate on press releases with me where I provide something I've done from scratch and they've plugged it into ChatGPT or similar. In total transparency, there are often elements from the AI version that I end up using; they streamline what I was trying to say in a way that trims precious character counts and gets straight to the point. But, and there is a but, if I'm writing a pitch about something deeply human, like a 91 year old self-publishing a pseudo memoir for the first time, a robot is not going to get the essential miraculousness of this feat.

I believe in efficiency (if I was a parent, the joke always was that I'd be a hybrid of Captain Von Trapp and Maria, the Captain for his efficiency and Maria for her whimsy/ability to make anything into a song), but not at the cost of storytelling.

Now, if I'm working with a very data-focused story, like validators and funds raised for a tech project, I'm more inclined to lean on my inner robot and even take ChatGTP for a spin. I'll collaborate with a robot, pride isn't at play here. Storytelling is, and that's part of why I am not afraid of being replaced by ChatGTP. Until of course, its wordplay surpasses mine.
